Hisham Dan John Grisham
3 hari mengambil masa untuk diselesaikan pembacaan novel The Litigators. Sebelumnya novel The Associate selesai dihadam.
Saya memang pembaca setia karya John Grisham walaupun belum kesemuanya dibaca. Ketika di Universiti Malaya, novel-novel ini dapat dipinjam di Perpustakaan Utama UM walaupun kadang-kadang saya terpaksa menunggu giliran untuk meminjam buku berkenaan. Selainnya saya beli bila kebetulan dijual dengan harga yang murah iaitu 2 buah buku dengan harga 1 buah buku.
Antara yang telah saya baca : A Time To Kill, The Firm, The Pelican Brief, The Client, The Chamber, The Rainmaker, The Runaway Jury, The Partner, The Street Lawyer, The Testament, The Brethren, The Summons, The King Of Torts, Bleachers, The Last Juror, The Broker, The Innocent Man, Playing For Pizza, The Associate dan The Litigators.

Manakala yang belum dibaca ialah : A Painted House, Skipping Christmas, The Appeal, Ford County, The Confession, Theodore Boone: Kid Lawyer, Theodore Boone : The Abduction, Calico Joe (Baru terbit pada April 2012).
Novel-novel yang dijangka akan terbit : Theodore Boone : The Accused (Dijangka 24 Mei 2012 ), The Racketeer ( 11 Oktober 2012 ) dan The Jailhouse Lawyer ( 24 Oktober 2012 ).
Antara faktor kenapa saya meminati karya John Grisham ialah kerana ia banyak berkisar tentang undang-undang. Kembali kepada 2 novel terakhir yang saya baca baru-baru ini, The Associate agak mengecewakan. Bagi The Litigators, saya beri 9/10. Di awal cerita lagi saya sudah tertarik dengan penerangan berkaitan Finley & Figg sebelum munculnya watak baru iaitu David Zinc.
Di akhir Chapter 1 John Grisham menulis :
There were times at Finley & Figg when all three were snarling or sulking, and money was usually the cause. The market was simply overcrowded; there were too many lawyers loose on the street.
The last thing the firm needed was another one.
Saya jadi tidak sabar untuk meneruskan pembacaan ketika itu!

Yeah, that didn’t happen . because it ended up being a non stop read for me I picked it up on a Sunday morning and turned the last page late (late) that night.I was hooked from the opening pages. David Zinc has toiled away at a prestigious law firm in relative obscurity for the last five years. Until the morning he realizes he can’t do it anymore and walks away. And lands at the firm of Finley & Figg ambulance chasers, divorce court specialists and anything else they can make a buck at. Although Wally and Oscar refer to the office as a ’boutique firm’, they are anything but Wally has just placed an ad for the firm on local bingo hall cards. When Wally gets wind of a potentially big case involving a big name cholesterol drug. It seems folks taking it are suffering heart damage and even death. If they can find a few cases of their own and ride on the coat tails of the big players in a mass claim action suit, they could all be rich. It seems simple enough and that’s enough of the plot given away.What made The Litigators a non stop read? The characters for sure. Wally and Oscar’s tactics are cringe worthy, their actions walk a fine line between working for the law and breaking it, but you just can’t help rooting for them in this David and Goliath fight. David is eminently likable as well. He is sense and reason, but with a new found freedom since escaping the big firm drudgery.The personal storyline involving his wife Helen also added much to the book.It seems like Grisham has a lot of fun writing The Litigators there is a sly sense of humour underlying the entire book. I laughed out loud many times at the situations and dialogue. It was eye opening to see the legal maneuvering much of the machinations involving the drug companies and lawyers gave me pause and made me wonder how much of it is fact. Quite frightening actually.The Litigators is by far one of Grisham’s best in my opinion (and I’ve read them all) An absolutely entertaining page turner that will be a well deserved best seller!

Sebabnya lebih kepada situasi Kyle yang terdesak demi rahsia yang disimpan selama ini dan juga bagaimana dia mengatasinya tak berapa best. Hehehehe.. Penjahatnya pun agak samar-samar asal usul. Tiba-tiba dah tamat… :p Pendapat saya semata-mata.
